Aggregate

St Heliers Street Gallery, Abbotsford Convent / 30th May – 23rd June 2019

‘Aggregate’ is the first exhibition by Ghost Wares. It is an exploration of how components make up a whole. By using textured clay we have created individual ceramic vessels that express the range of materials they are made of, yet each vessel is itself a component in a larger landscape.

The four hundred and ninety-nine pieces comprising the exhibition are limited-edition ceramics that could be purchased individually or in clusters. The clusters we’ve designed show how these vessels may be paired and for what potential purposes, however they can be used individually, in any combination and for any purpose. As objects, their definitions are malleable and evolve in relation to use.

To create an undulating landscape of objects, each vessel was thrown to a specific height on a pottery wheel. The video below, filmed by Michael Oulton, was displayed on a continuous loop during the exhibition.
